THE QAT KAUPAPA

For queer people, by queer people

  • Our services, events, and organisation are made FOR queer artists, and are led BY queer artists

  • Proactively and respectfully honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi

    • As the founding document, we recognise the importance of honouring Te Tiriti, and are incorporating this into our kaupapa, our work, and our organisation.

  • Affirming and empowering queer artists from all walks of life

    • We know that queer artists are the experts when it comes to what they need and want, and we create the space for them to make that happen.

  • Queer artists determine their journey

    • We affirm and empower queer artists of all abilities, religions, countries, communities, backgrounds, and art forms.

  • Focused in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington, the wider region, and the South Island

    • We are currently focused on helping support artists in Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington), the wider Te Upoko o Te Ika a Maui (Greater Wellington) region, and Te Waipounamu (South Island).

    • The lack of current funding opportunities – specifically for queer artists – plus the lived working arts experience of our current board members, means we will also be focusing on the art communities we know and work in. These are Drag, Cabaret, Comedy, Poetry, and Theatre. Our working knowledge in these areas enable us to provide the best support and advice that is relevant and helpful. This means we can focus our efforts on the communities we know best. We aim to grow our board, portfolio, and expand across the motu in good time. Think you can help? Get in touch!
